Access to quality healthcare and appropriate healthcare environments plays an important role in the wellbeing of every community. For Imperial Charity Foundation, supporting health has therefore remained an important part of its social intervention efforts.
One of the Foundation’s significant healthcare projects was the refurbishment of a maternity wing at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
What initially began as a relatively limited refurbishment developed into a much more extensive project after the condition of the facility was assessed. Plumbing and electrical systems required attention, alongside improvements to doors, windows, air-conditioning, tiles, ceilings, washrooms and beds.
The Foundation remained committed to completing the transformation, ultimately investing more than $250,000 in the project according to its records at the time.
The renovated wing was named in honour of Madam Opoku Agyeman, a retired midwife who dedicated many years of service to her profession. The improved facility was intended to provide a better environment for pregnant women receiving care for childbirth and related complications.
ICF’s healthcare support has also extended beyond physical infrastructure. The Foundation has provided financial assistance towards medical procedures and medical bills for individuals who require support.
Through both institutional projects and individual assistance, Imperial Charity Foundation continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving health and wellbeing.
