Refurbishment of Maternity Block at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital – January 2015

The Imperial Charity Foundation undertook the refurbishment of a maternity wing at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after learning that the facility had fallen into serious disrepair. What began as a modest repair and painting project developed into a comprehensive renovation, with major upgrades to plumbing, electrical systems, doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, washrooms, air-conditioning and patient facilities.

With an investment of over $250,000, the renovated wing was transformed into a more comfortable and functional environment for mothers, patients and healthcare professionals. The facility was subsequently named in honour of Madam Opoku Agyeman, a retired midwife who dedicated decades of service to maternal healthcare. The project reflects the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and supporting better maternal care in Ghana.

Imperial Charity Foundation creates meaningful social impact through investments in education, healthcare and community development, helping build stronger communities and better opportunities across Ghana.
